The wide-body craze is still alive and kickin’ and Shelby Performance has been happy to oblige with not one, but two packages for the Mustang faithful. On the heels of its kit for 2005-09 Mustangs, the division of Shelby American has just released another version for 2010-2014 Shelby and Mustang models as well. Shelby American unveiled a wide-body 2013 Shelby GT500 at the 2013 Detroit auto show, and the positive response to the car led the company to offer the new kit.

“The Shelby Wide Body Kit for 2005-2009 Mustang and Shelbys, as well as our New York and Detroit auto show generated so much interest by current model owners that we decided to offer the package to them, as well,” said Shelby Performance Parts Vice President Jer Gervasi in a statement announcing the new kit. “This means that 2009-2014 Mustang and Shelby owners won’t have to send their car to our Las Vegas facilities to tailor fit a Shelby Wide Body Kit to their ride.”

Two versions are available for the wide-body kit, the complete package and rear-only. The complete package features rear quarter panels that add six inches to the fender to fit 13-inch wheels, with the front fenders modified to fit 10-inch wheels. If you’re only interested in beefing up the rear, you can opt for the rear-only package. As Gervasi outlined, Shelby Performance Parts offers prospective buyers the option to purchase the kit only and have it installed at any local shop of their choice.

Both packages come with a Shelby Billet fuel door, installation instructions, special tools, and all of the necessary hardware for installation. But Shelby recommends that the installation should be handled by a professional body shop, considering the amount of body and paint work needed for completion.

While it adds plenty of aesthetic appeal, the exclusive Shelby American kit also helps with performance, allowing for tires as large as 345-wide in the back. More rubber meeting the pavement means better launches down the strip.

“Built using lightweight components and extraordinary craftsmanship, the Shelby Wide Body Kit is built to OEM-quality fit and finish to seamlessly integrate into the Mustang’s body lines,” added Gervasi. “This package adds serious grip to the Mustang that will turn heads and quarter miles.”

How much will one of these kits run you? The rear only package starts at $3,399, and the four quarter panel kit runs for $5,999 with prices not including the cost of wheels and tires.

“These kits are just a few examples of our ongoing effort to provide the Mustang community a little ‘Shelby Magic’ through Shelby branded styling and performance parts,” said Shelby American President John Luft.
