2011 Ford Mustang GT - Window Louver Install
Good Looks, Bad Intentions
Our Amsoil 2011 Ford Mustang GT has been quietly sitting in the back of our Tampa headquarters warehouse, just waiting for some love. Over a year ago, it was out in full force, delivering 9-second passes down the 1,320. It's enjoyed the spotlight before, including the 2010 SEMA show, but it's been nestled away since our rollcage install.
We decided to update its look, so we called on SilverHorse Racing (SHR). SilverHorse Racing has been specializing in the Ford aftermarket since 2003, and offers a premium line of interior and exterior parts for most Mustangs and F-series trucks. One of its most popular pieces is its window louvers for '05-present Mustangs.
According to Marcello Canitano, owner of SilverHorse Racing, "Over the years I got tired of aftermarket parts not fitting, so I decided to start SilverHorse Racing and manufacture parts the right way. Our window louvers are one of our top-three-selling products and continue to be. We offer them pre-painted with everything you need to install. There's no guesswork involved—it is the best way to do it."
With that said, we chose to install a set of its '10-present flush-mount quarter-vent louvers (PN S297-300). These louvers are the same that you would find on the current FR500 Cobra Jet. It's a small improvement over the factory quarter-window, but we feel it gives the GT a more aggressive look. Installation was simple and took about an hour.
