After stripping away about a ½-inch of the insulation, he spliced in the green wire with a white tracer, soldered, and covered with heat shrink. The other end of this wire plugs into pin C-36 of the same connector.
Starkey then installed the supercharger pulley onto the blower. One pulley comes with the kit, and we chose the 82mm pulley, which will make about 10 pounds of boost. If you want to use the 66mm or 63mm pulleys, you need to upgrade to an eight-rib belt drive. Otherwise, the 6-rib works just fine.
The Ultimate Performance kit utilizes a ’13-’14 Shelby GT500 intercooler pump (left), compared to a standard intercooler pump (right) found on most aftermarket supercharger kits.
Starkey installed the pump onto the left-hand frame rail and ran all of the intercooler hose to the intercooler and heat exchanger.
Meanwhile, Cleveland installed the VMP CNC throttle-body elbow, which is matched to the CNC-ported inlet on the supercharger.
Cleveland then installed the twin-60mm throttle body, which comes with the kit.
Also included in the kit is a JLT cold-air intake. Cleveland installed that as well.
Not included but provided to us by JLT Performance is this JLT oil separator ($119).
Here’s the kit completely installed. Everything fits factory-clean with minimal cutting.
We also ditched the factory grille for a Boss 302S grille (PN M-8200-MBR; $375).
Starkey then loaded a VMP Tuning tune onto an SCT X3 handheld tuner (PN 50LSCTUNE; $549) and flashed the ECM on Lacina’s GT.
On our in-house Dynojet chassis dyno, Lacina’s car pumped out 402 rwhp and 391 lb-ft of torque in naturally aspirated trim, with an axle-back exhaust and K&N air filter. With the VMP TVS, it made 605 rwhp and 522 lb-ft of torque. We love peak numbers, but the whole point of this install was for open tracking.

During the Track Guys event at Sebring International Raceway, Lacina put the VMP TVS through its paces. We datalogged Lacina’s GT during a 15-minute session, with impressive results. IATs hovered in the 130-to-150-degree range. Considering it was an 85-degree day, we were very pleased with the results.
