Gary Patterson 2

Every year, the excitement around the Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, Arizona gets the hearts of collector car enthusiasts, literally, racing! And, no enthusiast knows racing more than Shelby American’s very own President, Gary Patterson. In and among the sea of very unique collector vehicles offered up this year, Gary was focused on, most appropriately, the outstanding Mustang offerings that are going across “the block.” And, like fine wines, there were many vintages to sample at the 2019 auction.

Even though most of the offerings are classic tastes from the 1960s, there was a good amount of new flavorings including wide-body Super Snakes and even Shelby 1000s. But, for Gary, the serving that he most wanted to sample was the offering of the serial #001, 2020 GT500 that was being sold to benefit the most worthy cause of the GBRF Charity. Charity work on this scale is a tradition between the these two automotive icons. In fact, in 2017 Steve Davis donated his 2007 GT500 Super Snake to Barrett-Jackson and it fetched over a million dollars to benefit Las Vegas First Responders.

The history between Barrett Jackson and Shelby was really cemented when auction founder, Craig Jackson, actually named his daughter Shelby. Shelby American and Barrett-Jackson go hand in hand.
