Flipping through the March 1967 issue of Hot Rod magazine, we came across this totally bitchin’ advertisement for Autolite Spark Plugs. It shows a pair of Shelby G.T. 350 Mustangs sandwiching what looks like a Jaguar XKE at what is an artist’s rendering of Riverside International Raceway. The ad says, “Autolite speaks a performance language all its own. And that language is Ford total performance.”

This same issue featured an early Mustang “funny car” on the cover, a test of the new 390 GT four-speed Mustang, and a cover blurb asking, “Should Women Drive Fuel Cars?” We think Shirley Muldowney, Lori Johns, Leah Pritchet, Shelly Anderson, and any number of other Top Fuel and Funny Car drivers since would answer with a resounding “Yes!”
