It was a two-for-one special that paid off big time for Ford owner Marty Burke. Burke answered a car for sale ad and was able to scoop both a 1969 Mercury Cyclone and 1969 Ford Torino 428 Cobra Jet. Burke was in the market for a cool muscle car when he happened to stumble upon an ad in the paper for a 1969 Mercury Cyclone. The ad led Burke to a field in Texas, where he was shocked to find that he’d be leaving with two cars. Marty said, “When I got there the gentleman who was selling had the Cyclone and this Torino laying in a field and said that if I wanted one I had to take them both. I told the guy I don’t want them both, I just want the Cyclone, but he told me it’s a package deal, and neither one of them had an engine or transmission. The owner said I have a motor under the old workbench.”

Marty bought the pair and then tried to sell the Torino but no one wanted to purchase the car. All of this worked out for Marty when he eventually discovered that the engine was original. “Years later I started working on this car and I looked at the motor that came with this package deal and it turned out it was the original engine that came with this car. It turned out to be a one of one,” he said.
