Fierce Ford Friday: the Journey to Boss 302 Ownership
Kevin Jones and his journey to get his Boss 302
First of all, you can never underestimate the determination of a Ford enthusiast and collector. It’s that statement that came to life ten fold for Boss 302 Mustang owner Kevin Jones. Jones had been eyeing up the iconic Boss 302 and other classic Mustangs for years and finally caught a break to get his hands on his dream car. We caught up with Jones at the Muscle Car And Corvette Nationals in Chicago, Illinois earlier this year. Jones told us he has been an enthusiastic collector for many years and has a long line of Shelby Mustangs to prove it. But even with a full collection, he always had kept an eye out for the 1969 Boss 302 Mustang. Unfortunately, as bad luck and would have it, Jones finally found his dream Mustang, but the timing was just a little bit off.
“I was on strike at my job at the time when I looked at the car and I thought I can’t afford this. I did end up getting the car as soon as I went back to work,” Jones said. With good luck finally on his side, he scored this 1969 Boss 302 Mustang and it’s still in near factory condition, except for a performance exhaust. “I believe if you’re going to have a Boss 302 it should be a race car. It doesn’t have power steering or a deluxe interior like a Mach 1. It hardly had any options on it and that was really appealing to me,” Jones said.
This Mustang has won quite a few awards over the years including, winning the Mustang Nationals. That sounds like a Fierce Ford to us!
