The 45th Annual Daytona Turkey Run
The Four-day Thanksgiving Weekend Draws More than 100,000 Spectators.
Automotive enthusiasts in the Sunshine State have it made. With warm weather year-round in Florida, no one garages thier car over the winter. There is, however, a problem in the land of year-round warm weather, and that is that it’s often difficult to decide which of the dozen car shows every weekend to attend!
The dilemma is eased somewhat in November because there is one show on the calendar that’s everyone’s favorite. The 45th Annual Daytona Turkey Run held at the International Speedway draws more than 100,000 spectators and averages more than 5,000 vehicles on display. While street rods were the most numerous flavor of choice, the Mustang community is always well represented, simply because the show has so much to offer. Besides the huge collection of vehicles in the infield, there is an equally large collection of vendors selling virtually everything automotive. If it was time to sell, the Car Corral created the perfect opportunity with all of those 100,000 spectators becoming potential buyers who could choose from more than 1,500 vehicles. Dozens of food vendors kept your tank full and the scooter rental folks made negotiating the four-day event easier.
Spectators could check out the Batmobile and taste-test more than 30 craft beers at Hops and Hoods. Then when the show closes at 5:00 PM, wrap up an already fun day with even more at One Daytona, across the street from the track with music, DJ, and games, then drive through the Magic Lights light show.
