At a show in Wisconsin this September, we ran across Ron Kahler’s black ’65 hardtop and immediately took notice of the Watts link rear suspension, roll bar, and racing harnesses slipped through the stock bucket seats, and had to look deeper to see what this car is all about. Turns out Ron built the coupe as a combination street/open track car with a fairly mild 351W (Trick Flow heads, Holley carb on an Edelbrock intake) and that’s just what he does with it—takes it to shows and the occasional road course open track day. This is an example of a completely drivable but enormously fun Mustang that anyone can build, and everyone can enjoy.
