This week’s Mustang Girl Monday is Amanda Brown from Pennsylvania, who lives conveniently close to five different dragways.

Amanda credits her love of Mustang to her boyfriend. She told us, "We were old-time school friends and years later we found each other through Facebook. As a kid he grew up at the track and still goes to this day. At the time, I had a brand new Honda and soon decided that it just didn't have the get-up-and-go or muscle to take it down the track."

Amanda sold her Honda and found her red Mustang. "It doesn't hurt that red is my favorite color. Two years of hard work—breaking parts, buying parts, testing and tuning, and lots of arguments and frustration—has gotten it to where it is today."

Pride in ownership has always been important to Amanda and unfortunately the realities of racing have begun to show their face. She said, "I've never really put that much money into a car. It was tough taking it to the track for a race and breaking something. You just want to sit down and cry because you are so frustrated at the amount of hard work and dedication you put into the car and then it's just broken in front of your eyes. Not to mention the oil sprays that sprayed all over a freshly waxed car! I'm very proud of my car and I am proud of what I had to go through to get that car being a single mom and working my butt off."

With the Mustang came a new found respect. Amanda continued, "My car definitely does scare me and I respect that because I know what it can do. I do take the car once in awhile to work on a Friday but other than that she is the garage queen until track time. I take a risk driving it to work knowing that I can get pulled over at any minute for loud exhaust but that's the fun part. As of right now I have no intentions of getting rid of my car, it's definitely a one-of-a-kind just like her owner. It's like the car is part of our family and when I think of all the places we've been, all the people we've met, all the smiles we've seen, all the kids that have sat in my seat taking pictures, I am grateful for all the memories."
