Each week Team Mustang Girls brings you Mustang Girl Monday and this week we have something for everyone with Samantha Wood and her 1965 fastback and 2015 Stage 2 Roush.

Samantha started her affair with Mustangs as just a passenger. She tells us, "My first Mustang memory was riding in one of my friend's Mustangs in a local parade. It was white with red interior and I don't remember much else about it other than it was hot and didn't have ac! I started learning more about them and I remember writing a paper about Mustangs in middle school. Around that time, my cousin bought a yellow Mustang and gave me a ride in it. I was still hooked on the classics and my dad mentioned the possibility of rebuilding one for my first car. That never ended up happening, but it didn't deter my interest in them."

Now that Samantha has made the switch from passenger to owner she has embraced the Mustang way of life. "Having a Mustang, or even liking them, opens up an interesting community. Yes there's a lot of people hating on Chevys or picking on the person with the V6, but most of them respect them all at the end of the day. I drove my Roush from PA to NM and back and it was so fun to see how other Mustang drivers responded. You always get a wave or a rev on the road. If you park somewhere, there is a good chance you can come outside and see another Mustang parked next to you."

Along with gaining many Mustang friends Samantha has also taken advantage of every bump along the road. "It's a chance to learn something I never thought I would. My mom's fiance has a few Mustangs of his own and has helped me with numerous repairs on my cars. My first Mustang was a 1964 1/2 coupe and was a little rough around the edges. My distributor gear shredded on my way to my first Cars and Coffee and he got her back up and running, and he has taught me different repairs along the way. My fastback has been more reliable, but it's got an attitude like any other classic car. It makes you really proud when you can walk into an auto parts store, ask for a part, and go home and install it yourself, especially as a female. It's all a learning experience and as frustrated as I get when something doesn't go right with the car, it's an opportunity to learn."

Not only can she fix them, she's not scared to drive them either. "A lot of people buy special edition Mustangs like Roush, Shelby, or a Mach 1 and they don't put many miles on them. I was using my Roush as my daily driver for a while and some people cringed at the thought. I'd park in the last possible parking spot and linger a little further behind trucks, but I wouldn't want it any other way. Bad days or good days are made better with a short drive in a car you love. When most people deploy they get pictures of their kids or pets. My mom sends me pictures and videos of my cars. They say distance makes the heart grow fonder, but so do X-pipes."
