Jenifer Scouton, of Spokane, WA, grew up understanding the “rules of the garage,” telling us, “My dad has been tinkering on cars since he was a teenager—so, long before I was born. Since I can remember, my dad and his twin brother have always had some sort of car they were working on. I grew up knowing how to behave around the restored masterpieces he'd kept in our garage. I grew up knowing how to behave around the restored masterpieces he'd kept in our garage. Don't park my bike next to it, don't look at it, don't breathe on it. Not really, he built them to drive them and we would go out on Wednesdays to a local burger joint where other talented people brought their restored hot rods. Every summer when the GoodGuys Nationals came to the Spokane Fairgrounds, my dad and his brother would enter their cars and my siblings and I would ooh and ahh at all the beauty.

It's a 289 V8 with after market scoop hood. My dad installed power steering and I think we tried to keep everything else as original as possible. The valve covers were taken from a 65 mustang that my parents got married in and sold but randomly came across 20 some years later and restored that as well.

It would be a dream to own a car my dad rebuilt and in 2013 my dream would come true. My dad found an old Mustang, a good project he planned on fixing up with what he had on hand. I decided I wanted this car. We worked out a deal and it was real, I was going to be a part of the rebuild and outcome of my very own 1966 Ford Mustang. My dad has touched every part of this car from the engine to the upholstery to the paint job and stereo. I am completely blessed and forever grateful for the opportunity to have this dream become a reality. There is no price that could replace the sentimental value tied to this hunk of metal. It's now a tradition to enter the Good Guys car show WITH my dad and it's so cool to park our cars next to each other!
