It's Mustang Girl Monday brought to you by Team Mustang Girls and this week we would like to introduce you to Becky Watson, the proud owner of a 1965 Mustang.

"My love of Mustangs is strong, going back to day one literally. My dad bought his first Mustang (a red '66) when he was 16 years old. That was the car my parents brought me home from the hospital in after I was born." Becky's father fostered her Mustang obsession with his own. He bought and restored classic Mustangs throughout her life, and many of her favorite childhood memories are the ones where she helped him work on his cars. "It's safe to say our house is known as the ‘Mustang house’ in the town I grew up in. Besides my ’65, my dad currently has four Mustangs, a '66 and three '65s, and my sister also has a '65 of her own."

Becky knew she wanted a Mustang from a very young age and saved up every penny until she found the right one—her dad was very insistent on her being able to buy her own car so that she would never take it for granted. She finally found the right one, a beautiful Vintage Burgundy '65 coupe with a V-8 engine and black and white pony interior. "It's been so fun to be able to work on my own car with my dad."

Becky doesn't doubt that even if she hadn't been raised around Mustangs, she would still love them. "I love the fact that the engines are simple enough to work on myself (maybe with a little help from my dad), and that their elegant beauty never goes out of style. I’ve never seen anything else that was able to be perfectly sexy, classy, and badass all at the same time."

"I have so many good memories in my dad’s Mustangs—getting picked up from school, cruise nights, learning to drive—but my favorite memories involved learning the little stuff. I know all the tricks for telling what year a Mustang is by its body style and emblems, how to tell a 1964 ½ apart from a 1965, what the proper engine colors should be, and even how to jump the solenoid to start the engine. The smell of the exhaust will always be one of my favorite smells and I can tell the sound of a ‘Stang driving down the street any day. The Ford Mustang will always have my heart."

Each week Team Mustang Girls features a different woman and her Mustang. Check out the past featured ladies from Mustang Girl Monday and submit your own Mustang story at TeamMustangGirls.com.
