Ford Built Sherman M4A3 Medium Tank

In the very restricted engine room is the Ford GA-8 engine. It was originally conceived as a V-12 engine for aircraft use. When other newer engine designs replaced it in aircraft, Ford shaved off four cylinders to come up with this DOHC all-aluminum V-8. It displaces 1,100 ci and produces 500 hp, giving the Sherman a 25-mph top end.
