D Day: The BOSS is Completed
All over the set, we saw daily... All over the set, we saw daily reminders of the time crunch pushed on the team to get the car complete, but none of them were as critical as seeing these D-Day signs. Delivery Day is last call. This car must be running and finished for the mark. | The Mustang received all new... The Mustang received all new glass, courtesy of JRD International. A crew from the company came to the set and installed the windshield and backlight, making sure everything was sealed and adjusted properly. | The hood goes on for a trial... The hood goes on for a trial fit. The team leaves off the hood for working room, just like they leave out the seats until as late as possible, to make more room to work and to prevent damage from an errant tool. |
Even though the engine is... Even though the engine is complete and installed, Jesse sticks around for the reveal. He jumps in to help where he can, like installing the glass trim. | Overhaulin' has brought in... Overhaulin' has brought in pinstripe artist Dennis Ricklefs on a couple of other episodes, and for the Boss build they had him outline the logo on the front fender to make it pop with some light-blue paint. Watching his skilled hands while people are still working on the car-which is shaking-is amazing. | Here is a quick look at the... Here is a quick look at the finished product. It's small details like this that will make this car stand out even more. The Overhaulin' team has but it a lot time and effort to make this car what it is. |
At the last minute, Chip decides... At the last minute, Chip decides to reinstall the hoodscoop (luckily, it had been painted to match the stripes). He breaks out the 5-inch hole saw and carefully cuts three holes in the hood to make the scoop functional. | Once the holes are cut and... Once the holes are cut and trimmed, the scoop goes on for the last time. Meanwhile, it's getting close to 5 p.m. and time is running out. The second film crew leaves to pull the final prank where they will let Hector in on the ruse. | As soon as Chip is done installing... As soon as Chip is done installing the hoodscoop, Dennis swoops in and stripes the hood with an orange pinstripe to contrast the silver. He'll barely complete the same stripe down the side of the car before Hector arrives. |
