Actually, the paint scheme on Jr.'s Super Snake is similar to the pattern Foose designed for the BFGoodrich '06 Mustang Stallion built by Unique Performance. The hood, roof, decklid and the very top of the fenders and doors are Crimson Splash, and are separated from the Champagne Fizz bottom by a Copper Sunset stripe.
Brent Fenimore, vice president of business operations for Unique Performance, who also worked for Shelby for 15 years, says, "We've never done a two-tone besides this one."
The wheels are also Foose. They measure 19 inches and bring the Shelby into the 21st century with a brilliant shine. Foose not only designed the wheels, his company also cut them especially for this vehicle. "They are a Halibrand look with a high polish," Fenimore says.
Apparently, you can customize your Shelby any way you like if you want to spend the money. Foose's rendering also included lowering the vehicle. Unique Performance dropped the front and rear about an inch to match the cool Foose styling.
Paul Jr. had taken delivery of the Super Snake just days before our interview. He drove the car "a little bit," but he hadn't really "got on it good."
The nitrous switch and go button on the five-speed shifter handle are strictly for looks. Injecting a 100-horse shot of nitrous would probably not be good for an already blown big-block.
But, with 750 hp, the Super Snake attracts celebrities like Paul Jr. "I like the musclecar sound," he says. I like the torque. I like the exhaust sound. You really don't get that with newer cars. You get some different refined sounds. But it's unique and it's fun."
The high polish extends to the engine bay. Unique polished the supercharger, including the top hat and blower, as well as the A/C and the radiator, to an exceptionally high gloss.
Basically, Paul Jr. has assured himself a Super Snake that is like no other. He says he wasn't necessarily a Mustang person, but he particularly liked the early fastbacks, referring to the '65-'66 and the '67-'68 models. He plans to hold on to his Super Snake and "drive it once in a while." He believes the value is going to increase and that the continuation Shelby is a good investment.
We wondered about Mikey. Was he getting a Super Snake? Maybe reality TV show stars are not surreal like typical actors. Basically, what you see is what you get. Paul Jr. says Mikey drives an AMC Matador.
