The Details
Larry and Phyliss Hamm's '08 Roush P-51A Mustang
Number 23 of 151 built
To achieve the higher 510hp rating, Roush goes into the 4.6L 24-valve engine and upgrades the reciprocating assembly. The stout new equipment includes a forged steel eight-bolt crankshaft, forged aluminum pistons with increased dish to lower the compression from 9.8:1 to 8.6:1, and forged steel H-Beam connecting rods. The lower compression ratio allows for extra boost pressure. The extra strength components, Eaton TVS 2300 supercharger, and high-capacity air-to-water intercooler support the 510hp rating. Compared to the Blackjack, the P-51A also has bigger injectors and larger induction.
