Ford Galaxie

The Ford Galaxie was a full-size car build between 1959 and 1974. The 1959 Ford Galaxie started out as an upgraded version of the Ford Fairlane. The Galaxie Skyliner offered a retractable hardtop that folded into the trunk but left little trunk space and was an expensive upgrade. From 1960 to 1964 the Galaxie went through a styling change that included a sleek body and a space-like theme with circular taillights. The car made a performance impact when the 1963 Ford Galaxie was released with a lower, fastback roofline and a 427 engine. Many consider this period to be the golden age of the Ford Galaxie and these cars are considered American classics.
