When you roll into just about any race these days, the pits are dominated by semis and multi-car trailers, but the show fields are not normally a place you’ll find an exotic trailer.

Sure, lots of people trailer their show cars to different events, but Paul Nemoga of Jefferson, Georgia, has taken it to the next level by making his trailer part of the show.

Paul’s project started with a Vapor Silver ’08 GT, which he bought new as a 46th birthday present to himself. While attending different car shows, he began to plan out the build process for his S197. After adding the usual bolt-on goodies, aesthetic upgrades, and a ProCharger supercharger, the project has taken a wild twist, making it a one-of-a-kind ride.

“I was standing in front of work, looking at a ’10 Mustang body-in-white sitting on a trailer in front of MV Performance,” explained Paul. “I called my friend Kirk Mowry, who works at Mark Gibson Racing, and asked him to look at it. ‘This might sound crazy, but do you think we could cut a car in half and make a trailer to pull behind my car?’ As we looked the car over, Kirk laughed and said he didn’t see any reason why we couldn’t.”

With the decision to build a trailer made, the challenge was finding the right car. Shane Cannon, who works at MV Performance, knew of an S197 body that was for sale locally. Paul took a ride out and made the deal, knowing it would soon be cut in half.

The fabrication was handled at Mark Gibson Racing between prepping stock cars for the ARCA races, which it competes in. The trailer project started with Kirk simply cutting the car in half. Once the front was discarded, the rear structure was reinforced and adapted into a trailer. The large opening was closed with sheetmetal, and it was all prepped for paint.

When the trailer was initially finished, it was rolled outside for the first time, and Paul realized the color didn’t match the car. With only a week before the NMRA race in Atlanta, it was back to the paint shop to respray the newly built trailer.

When the car and trailer were finally finished, it was unique. The trailer matched the rear of Paul’s ’08 GT perfectly, and it attracted an enormous amount of attention everywhere he went. But at the end of 2011, the trailer was damaged in a freak ice storm. When it came time to fix it, Paul was ready for something different and made major changes to the car and trailer.

The first things to go were the stripes. With a blank canvas, Paul ditched the stock hood in favor of the Punisher hood; the Mach 1-style wheels gave way to Forgestar CFS wheels. The car and trailer were then upgraded with an air suspension kit from Airlift Performance, which allows Paul to slam the car and trailer, making this one-off combo even wilder. The face of the trailer was detailed with a mural of a damsel in distress, which plays into the villain theme of the car.

If you’re wondering what’s inside the trailer, it’s full of everything one would need to win at a car show. A blend of signage, seating, and cleaning supplies fill the extra truck space. Paul even has T-shirts he gives out at shows to people who like the car. Sometimes the villain turns out to be a good guy!
