Kirk Casey's '05 Brooks Stealth-R Mustang
Brooks Performance was founded in September 2000 with the idea that a Mustang used as a daily driver could also offer the excitement of a purpose-built track car without seriously impacting ride comfort and driveability. Brooks Performance built its first car, which was a '93 5.0L LX Mustang. With these guidelines in mind, today the company offers a variety of Mustang performance packages. They are available for early through late-model Mustangs, including the exclusive Stealth-R Mustangs, which are currently available only from Brooks Performance.

The owner of this Brooks Performance Stealth-R Mustang is Kirk Casey of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. The '05 GT model is the prototype car for the Stealth-R series and hence carries the Brooks chassis number of 001. Brooks Performance began production of the Stealth line of Mustangs in response to numerous customer requests for an S197 Mustang built on the GT platform that would have spectacular looks and extra power on tap, as well as handle like a track-bred race car. All of this has been achieved and without the ride of a Ponderosa buckboard.

Toward these lofty goals, a Whipple intercooled supercharger was utilized to raise the acceleration performance, delivering 477 rear wheel horsepower in the process. For those who prefer a centrifugal blower, a Vortech supercharger option is also available. Stainless Steel Brakes eight-piston calipers up front help slow things down in a hurry. Many variables such as ride height, roll center, and spring rate were considered in the creation of the carefully balanced suspension system. The suspension on chassis number 001 has been enhanced with Tokico D-Spec adjustable shocks and struts, special springs, Panhard bar, and more.

Brooks' customers also wanted a vehicle with "an aggressive look that would be unique to the Stealth line of extreme performance Mustangs." A custom paint scheme, using Brooks patented colors, and a multitude of functional body modifications and additions made sure that this goal was achieved. In a world full of shops modifying Mustangs, Brooks Performance has managed to create something truly set apart from the rest.

Classic Performance Package

  • Brooks Performance also works on classic Mustangs. Its '65 Mustang 2+2, otherwise known as Project Quicksilver, is a perfect example of the company's craft. Vehicle modifications are extensive but always functional and in good taste. The body look includes components such as an Eleanor-style hood, a GT350 front valance panel, Shelby sidescoops, and a racing-style flip-open fuel door. Budnik wheels and four-wheel disc brakes complete the competition look. Underhood, the Quicksilver Mustang has a 347 short-deck screamer that makes 450 hp and is connected to a G-Force T-5 transmission. Out back, you'll find a 9-inch axle with 3.73 gears. There is a lot of attention paid to the suspension. The following are examples of just a few things Brooks includes: a 1-inch upper control arm drop, Koni shocks, Hotchkiss suspension components, and welded subframe connectors. Interior appointments include air conditioning, Auto Meter instrumentation, and Corbeau GTS-II seats.
