LaMotta also installed an up-to-the-task fuel system and beefed up the rearend with Moser 31-spline axles, an Eaton diff, and 3.73 gears. In view of the anticipated power level, a Tremec TKO and SPEC Stage 3 clutch also came onboard. A FAST system now handles engine management, tuned by Cal Hartline.
New custom cams are currently on order from Crane, and with them, LaMotta is hoping to see rear-wheel figures "somewhere in the 750 range." Even so, the car's owner is bound and determined to maintain an outwardly stock, stealthy appearance. For example, when the Bullitt's battery was relocated to the trunk, owner Ron insisted that the requisite on/off switch be placed out of sight behind a panel.
All of which results in a whole new meaning to the term "concealed carry."
