Knowing what it would take to stay competitive in NMRA Pure Street, however, Mike sold the car you see here during the winter of 2003. But there were to be other losses for Mike as well. His father passed away in 2003. And at the age of just 33, his brother, John, died on February 14, 2004. "It's been a rough winter," Mike says.

With all that's happened recently, Mike says his fortune may be taking a turn for the better. He has put a lot of things back on track, including getting back in the driver seat of Lisa Reffert's NMRA Real Street car, which should be ready for the '04 Columbus race.
