TJ Salandro • Latrobe, PA • 1980 Mercury Capri

TJ Salando owns this sweet sweet five-speed 1980 Mercury Capri 2.3L with just over 85,000 miles on the clock. To keep it running smoothly as a daily, TJ installed a few things, such as a new gas tank, fuel lines, brake system, and ignition system. The interior has been repainted and new carpet installed. In regards to performance, TJ hooked it up with a Crane flat tappet camshaft, high-performance lifters and followers, a Holley 5200 carb, a new fuel pump, air pump delete, EGR delete, Pinto long-tube headers with no cats or muffler, a milled head for compression, and a valve job. Other goodies include Ford Racing 3.73 gears and BFGoodrich tires. Mods for the future include Esslinger Engineering underdrive pulleys and crankshaft, an aluminum driveshaft, new pistons and rods, and a small shot of nitrous.
