Dreams Come True

Todd Merriss dreamed of owning an '06 Mustang GT ever since taking one for a test-drive when they were new. "I fell in love with the car," Todd says, "but couldn't afford it at the time." His dream turned into reality in October 2013, when he was able to find the exact color and trim package as the Pony he drove so many years ago. He's been busy modding it since, too. Todd added JBA headers, a Bassani Xhaust axle-back exhaust, an SR Performance throttle body, and a Ford Racing cold air intake. To the exterior, he added Scott Drake billet hoodpins, quarter-window louvers, Eibach springs, Foose 18-inch wheels, HID headlights, and sequential taillights. Todd tells us many more upgrades are planned, but his Mustang plate is pretty full—Todd also owns and is working on a '88 GT convertible and a '96 GT.

Stacked Four-Eye

"Your magazine has been the inspiration for all of the upgrades I have been fortunate enough to accomplish," says Michael Mauvais. The Lake Stevens, Washington resident has owned this '841⁄2 GT since April 1986, when it had just 9,300 miles on it; now it has over 132,000 miles. While the car sat for a lengthy time, a neighbor brought over a stack of 5.0&SFmagazines; Michael has been a suscriber ever since. He also set a goal to have his silver Fox on these pages. He dusted off the car's cobwebs and started with a heavy-duty radiator, a Holley Street Avenger carburetor, underdrive pulleys, a T-5 rebuild, and a Pro-5.0 shifter as the initial mods. With the car running again, he then added headers, a BBK Performance off-road X-shape crossover pipe, and a Flowmaster after-cat exhaust. Steeda Autosports springs, subframe connectors, an 8.8 swap with 3.73 gears, and a five-lug conversion were up next. The Four-Eye was then sprayed its original silver with a painted hood treatment in place of the original sticker. The interior was rejuvenated with new seat foam and covers, carpet, and headliner. "A thumping stereo rounds out the updates and she runs like a champion," Michael says. Most of the upgrades took place with help from Michael's buddy Glen Boersema, and the two plan to focus on making more power with the car. We like that plan, Michael.

"This is my third Mustang, and by far my favorite."

3rd 'Stang

We've heard from more than one Mustang fan that their '11-'14 GT is their favorite, and Bogdan Nica is one of them. "This is my third Mustang, and by far my favorite," Bogdan says. We can see why his ‘13 GT is his favorite, what with a full Kooks exhaust, a multitude of Steeda Autosports upgrades, 3.73 gears, and staggered rims with Nitto Invo treads. It would be our favorite, as well. To take advantage of the performance mods, the GT also has a Steeda/SCT tune in it, but he's not done by any means. Bogdan plans on adding a Cobra Jet intake with a throttle body, and Comp Cams Stage 2 camshafts.
