Fastback Original Owner

John Lear special ordered his '65 Mustang fastback on June 15, 1965, from Mark Downing Ford in Huntington Beach, California. The Springtime Yellow Mustang remains mostly original, including paint, black interior, factory 289 engine, and four-speed. Shortly after taking delivery of his Mustang, John replaced the factory wheels with E.T. alloy rims, which are still on the car today. The factory spare remains in the trunk. John notes that his Mustang appeared in the September 1988 issue of Hot Rod magazine.

Replacement S197

As a retirement present to himself, Tim Roth purchased a '06 Mustang. Unfortunately, it was totaled just 14 months later. Tim promptly replaced it with a '07 model. "I've seen tons of Mustangs with stripes, so I wanted to do something different with this one," he says of his Toledo, Ohio, based V-6 Mustang. So far, Tim has added an aftermarket cold-air intake, crossover pipes, and dual Magnaflow mufflers. For a more muscular appearance, the S197 is fitted with Cervini's taillights, chrome wheels, side scoops, fiberglass ram-air hood from American Muscle, and two-tone custom paint.

White Stripe Mach

Paul Huffman's '70 Mach 1 is one of the few that came with white stripes. According to Kevin Marti's Ford production database, only 1,372 of the nearly 41,000 Machs built for '70 came with the lighter shade of stripes, which is even more unusual on Paul's Bright Gold Metallic model. According to Paul, his Mach 1 has resided in the Denver area for its entire 80,000-mile life. "I'm a big believer in originality," he says. "The original Wide Oval spare is still in the trunk, and the Ginger interior and engine bay have never been restored beyond normal maintenance."

Tribute Driver

Dennis Bartolf, from Oxbow, Saskatchewan, built his '67 convertible into a Shelby GT 350 recreation for those nice days in mid-west Canada. Equipped with a 289 High Performance engine and Tremec five-speed, the Mustang is painted in an eye-catching Candy Orange Metallic. A multi-show winner, Dennis also drives his convertible, as proven when he drove it to Sturgis, South Dakota, last year.
