Porta Love

Zak Porta says his 2007 Shelby GT500 has been a labor of love the past few years, and he even proposed to his now-wife in the car. Since it's been a labor of love, you know the Shelby's not stock. Far from it, as a matter of fact. A Kenne Bell 2.8H supercharger replaced the stock blower. Supporting the big KB are 72-lb/hr injectors, billet fuel rails, an off-road H-pipe, and a JBA after-cat exhaust. To best make use off the increased power, Zak added Eibach coilovers, Maximum Motorsports caster/camber plates, Metco Motorsports Solutions control arms, a BMR Suspension Panhard bar, and a Driveshaft Shop one-piece driveshaft. To keep the Shelby cool, it benefits from a Revan Racing dual-fan heat exchanger, M-H Racing's The Tank, Samco silicone hoses, and a 170-degree thermostat. As you can see, the exterior received attention as well, with painted rocker panels, a carbon-fiber splitter, tinted turn signals and side markers, and CCW 505A wheels with Mickey Thompson ET Street Radials out back. Zak's other standout mods include a Ford Racing X-brace rear-seat delete; a custom Zpod gauge pod with Aeroforce gauges; a Bob's Auto Sports oil separator; and lots of custom powdercoating and hydrocarbon work.

Barn Finds

Ok, so these Mustangs weren't found in a barn. They're owned by StangBarn's (www.stangbarn.com) Josh Hopping and his father-in-law. Josh owns the 2003 Cobra, which features a K&N cold air intake, BBK Performance X-shape crossover pipe, a Magnaflow after-cat, subframe connectors, an IRS brace, a Classic Design Concepts lightbar, and chrome Cobra wheels. With the stock pulley in place, the Cobra put down 432 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque. Josh's father-in-law, Ed Whitenack, has owned the '83 GT 'vert for about five years now. It was stock with 85,000 miles on it when Ed bought it. Now it features a full restification with Eibach springs, Weld Draglites, and a mild 306 under the hood backed up by short-tube headers, an H-pipe, and a Flowmaster after-cat exhaust.
