High Heels Kicking It In High Gear With New Paint And Accessories
We know you guys are chomping at the bit to see the finished product of the all-female built SEMA Mustang project, but they say patience is a virtue, right?
We've tortured you for months over Project High Gear because, let's face it, it's a big deal. Well, the Mustang GT/CS build is almost totally finished, and our team of ladies has been tirelessly turning wrenches to get the completely custom '13 Mustang GT/CS ready for it's debut on the SEMA showroom floor in November 2012, where it will be revealed for all to see.
Project High Gear has a purpose besides showing hot-rod-loving men everywhere that some women also enjoy going elbow-deep in a greasy engine bay. After the show, it's off to eBay Motors for a charity auction, with proceeds going to the SEMA Memorial Scholarship Fund and one lucky guy or gal is going to own one of the most unique Mustangs ever made.
For those who have missed the juicy details, here's a quick recap.
The concept for this bad Pony project car was founded in 2010 and it took a couple of years to come to fruition. Enthusiasts of Source Interlink Media's magazines and websites voted on three design concepts earlier this year to choose one unique rendering. The winning design just happened to be created by Jennifer Seely of Ford Motor Company.
Our friends at the Blue Oval donated a fully loaded 2013 Mustang GT/CS, powered by a 5.0L Coyote engine platform that was just begging to be modified. From there, a dream team of ladies, all members of the SEMA Business Women's Select Committee, was assembled and given the assignment of creating the one and only all-female-built Mustang project in existence today.
The bulk of the modification and assembly is being done in the Source Interlink Snap-On Tech Center in El Segundo, California.
With this build having over 30 team members, that's a lot of ladies in one garage, but only a select few are hands-on doing the dirty work. Each portion of the build has it's own manager to oversee every detail.
The girls jumped right in and started with our favorite part, bolting some major boosted horses onto this Coyote with an Edelbrock E-Force supercharger kit and a Magnaflow exhaust. It's expected to make over 550 horsepower to the rear tires once the final tuning is complete.
Edelbrock also provided the ladies with a custom dyno tune to get this boost-breathing Coyote dialed in properly. We haven't seen the final power numbers, but you can bet it's going roast the tires in a big way.
After the horseower portion was completed, they conquered the undercarriage and overhauled the suspension with the help of Whiteline USA, H&R, and Wilwood brakes. No stone was left unturned as they completely replaced the OEM parts with upgraded goodies built to handle serious launching action. Everything from the springs to the control arms was upgraded. We expect to see this thing grab some pavement.
The Pony Express is currently making a pit stop for paint and body upgrades at L&G Enterprises in San Dimas, where this Mare is getting a new body kit, a fresh coat of seductive satin-black paint, and signature rose-gold accents that are totally unique to this design. L&G is also installing the aftermarket grille, headlights, and window tint.
Just as any horse needs to be re-shoed, this swift Steed is getting a completely one-off set of rose-gold Forgeline wheels wrapped in Pirelli tires. And get this -- even the lug-nuts are unique to this project. McGard is providing specially made lug nuts featuring the project name, High Gear, on them. Custom is an understatement when it comes to this smoking hot filly.
