Roush Fenway driver Greg Biffle is maintaining his points lead in the NASCAR Spring Cup Series after Sunday's race in Fontana, California. Biffle finished 6th, while his teammate Carl Edwards finished just ahead in 5th. Though the Biff hasn't won a race yet this year, he's still holding on to the points lead, holding off Kevin Harvick by seven points.

It all started with three straight 3rd Place finishes to start the season. Then, he took the Pole Position in Bristol and finished 13th, his worst finish this season to date. This past weekend, he started on the second row after qualifying 4th and finished 6th. Over these first five races, Biffle has an average finish position of 5.6, compared to his career average of 16.4, according to NASCAR.com.

So will this be Biffle's year to make his run at the Cup? After Edwards lost his grip on the Cup to Tony Stewart in the last race of last season, the Roush Fenway team is probably looking at another driver to carry the torch this season--presumably Biffle or Matt Kenseth. And with Biffle's great start, he could end up with his first Championship.

In the Nationwide Series, Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. holds onto his 2nd Place ranking after finishing in 2nd in Fontana's Royal Purple 300. He trails Elliott Sadler by 18 points after five races. The defending champion won the race in Las Vegas earlier this month, and has placed in the Top 10 in four out of the first five races.
