The 7th annual car show at Myrtle Beach Mall took place at Hooters on Friday, with thousands of spectators showing up to browse through the rows and rows of beautiful Stangs both classic and brand-new--and even a few Lightnings. Vendors lined the rim of the lot and sold parts and other gear to anxious Ford enthusiasts. The place was crawling with excitement as owners gave their rides one final wipe-down before judging began. The action ended with spectators lining the highway at the exit of the parking lot and videotaping the Mustangs, which left pedal to the metal.

We returned to the Hooters in the morning for one last day in Mustang heaven. Mustang Week officials bragged that this event would be the largest Mustang and SVT cruise-in in the southeast, and they did not disappoint. The layout was exactly like that of the previous day, only with a greater number of stunning cars in attendance. Parking spots were scarce, and the heat was almost unbearable, but we held out until car show awards were distributed to the deserving winners. The day again came to an end with the sounds of screeching tires, slamming gears, and taking off up the road for one last night out and about in South Carolina. While some decided to cruise up and down the strip near the beach, others chose to celebrate with a night out at local bars and restaurants.

Come the end of the week, it seemed we had only arrived the day before. Mustang Week flew by, but it was one of those events that enthusiasts will remember for a lifetime. I like to say that it's one of those things that everyone should add to their "bucket list" (a list of things to accomplish in your lifetime). Besides the thousands of cars that overwhelmed Myrtle Beach, the people were the most personable around, and everyone was helpful and eager to give advice and talk about their cherished Mustangs. We think this year's attendees would agree with us when we say that we can't wait to begin planning for Mustang Week 2012!
