Mustang Week 2012 Guide
Welcome to Mustang Week
A decade has come and gone. That sounds like a long time, but it seems like only yesterday when we held that first Mustang Week in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The staff talks all the time about what really makes Mustang Week stand apart from all the other events. Participants, sponsors, and vendors all say the same thing. What makes Mustang Week different is the overall feeling you get throughout the week.
The week brings on a roller coaster of emotion that begins with the excitement you feel as you first cross the South Carolina state line, or when you enter the Myrtle Beach city limits. As the week draws to an end, you know you are really going to miss it when it's over. You realize that each day's event is like an old friend, each different from the day before. Each event has a unique down-home feeling that you come to love.
For many, Mustang Week is more than an event--it's a yearly crusade. The regulars know what we mean. The excitement builds as we ring in the New Year. Chatter on the various online forums picks up steadily as spring approaches. It's always fun to read posts in which someone writes, "I've always wanted to go to Mustang Week, and this will be my first year!"
For you Mustang Week first-timers, now is the time to request time off from work and make reservations. Most returning participants made their hotel reservations as soon as they got home from last year's event to ensure a room at their favorite place. Now is also the time to ready your Mustang or SVT to hit the streets of Myrtle Beach.
Folks from all over the country are making their plans to come to the 11th Annual Mustang Week. The only question left to ask is ... are you ready?
What makes Mustang Week different is the overall feeling you get throughout the week.
It's uncommon for event promoters in this day and age to say they are beginning their second decade for a show, but Mustang Week just keeps getting better and better with each passing year.
Mustang Week began in 2002 as a small cruise-in with roughly 150 cars at Broadway at the Beach in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. It has grown steadily over the past 10 years, and we expect 2012 to draw record-setting numbers.
Mustang Week takes the word "vacation" to a whole new level. The Mustang Week staff has carefully thought out the week's schedule so that participants are able to enjoy everything Myrtle Beach has to offer, while still making it to all the scheduled events. Many events don't begin until early afternoon, so you have the whole morning to hit the beach, shop, or clean up your ride.
Several of the 2012 events end early enough in the evening that participants can enjoy the Myrtle Beach nightlife! A trip to Mustang Week is the ultimate combination of cruise-ins, car shows, drag racing, open-tracking, and a great beach vacation all rolled into one!
