There are lots of car and truck shows on the circuit but few offer such a concentrated selection of vintage Ford-powered machines as the 32nd annual F-100 Supernationals. The event was older than some of the participants and has a rich history in the F-100 community. Returning after a long absence, the show is back in Pigeon Forge, a move applauded by both the city officials and drivers alike. It was also the first event to be held in Pigeon Forge's new municipal parking lot, offering acres of display space to the 912 vehicles and estimated six thousand spectators. The added bonus of unlimited shopping and resort attractions was not lost on another segment of the F-100 community, ensuring that there was something to do for everyone.

Excitement began at the opening ceremonies when show promoter Charlie Cobble unveiled a half dozen newly completed trucks debuting at the event. The fun continued as the crowd began wondering the rows, examining the huge collection of trucks on display. More than 80 vendors kept many of the drivers busy, examining the huge range of aftermarket goodies with everything from shiny and new to swap meet parts that were rusty and dusty.

Whether you were displaying a completed truck or restoring one back in the garage, many of the attendees had one particular vehicle in mind. The Black Oval giveaway truck has been on display for the last 18 months and many drivers were hoping to hear their name called at the Saturday afternoon awards ceremony. When co host and TV personality Sam Memmolo pulled the winning ticket from the drum, a smiling John Davis made his way to the stands. The truck, appraised at $28,500 is still unfinished, leaving the personalizing details to the new owner. With a little luck, it just may become the featured attraction at the 2011 event. More than 270 deserving drivers left this year's show with trophies and many were already making plans for next year.
