2009 Mustangs Northwest Roundup - Great Fun in the Sun
Mustang Fans gather in Bellevue, Washington
Tradition has it that on the third weekend of July, Pacific Northwest Mustang fans converge on Bellevue Washington, and the annual Mustangs Northwest Roundup. This year was no exception, as over July 16-19, the show in the suburbs of Seattle celebrated it's 29th iteration with its usual style.
A four day event for many years now, the festivities kicked off with a timed autocross event on Thursday, followed on Friday by one of the nation's largest Pony Trails car caravans - this one a scenic trip through the Cascade mountains to Yakima, Washington. The traditional MCA regional judged show takes place on Saturday, and our favorite - the large People's Choice show with some 843 entrants, on Sunday.
The Roundup is always a great blend of Mustangs of all generations, from stock to wild, driver to trailered show queen - all the while providing for both active participation and static display. We're told a scheduling conflict with nearby Pacific Raceways led to the replacement of the open-track event of years past with autocross, and yet the club is looking to other venues with hopes of a return to open-track in 2010. Such thrills should be warmly embraced as the host club Mustangs Northwest plans on celebrating it's 30th anniversary show July 15-18, 2010, in a big way. The Mustang Club of America Grand National show will be part of Roundup next year, in what should be one of the biggest Mustang events to hit the west coast in a long time.
