While Cadell had a clear view ahead, the competitors giving chase kicked up plenty of dust and grass and bumped lots of body panels. Besides a broken Panhard rod that made Jim Click's No. 54 Mustang a handful to drive, an off-track excursion by Rick Edwards resulted in a horrific crash. After bounding through the grass at Turn 10B, Edwards merged back onto the track and hit Mark German's rear corner. The contact spun German backward under the Suzuki bridge where he slapped the driver side with a thwack that drew a collective wince from the spectators. Fortunately, German walked away from the crash with credit to his Mustang's stout 'cage and halo-equipped racing seat.

The incident subsequently brought out the yellow flag under which the race concluded. Cadell celebrated his victory alongside fellow podium finishers Slone (2nd) and Pratt Cole (3rd).

The Ford Racing Mustang Challenge for the Miller Cup makes its second stop at Mosport International Raceway. If the first race was any indication, Round Two will be another crowd-pleaser.
