WelcomeMobil 1 World Ford Challenge Participant,It's time to welcome you to the ninth annual "Silver Anniversary" of the Mobil 1 World Ford Challenge! This year's event will once again take place at Gateway International Raceway park in St. Louis on May 18-21, 2006. Everyone is preparing for what looks to be the biggest WFC to date! We have been promoting WFC9 as the Silver Year as we lead up to the Gold for WFC10. Our 10th Anniversary is only one year away! We are expecting a record number of Ford race cars, Ford show cars, Ford manufacturers, and, of course, Ford-loving fans. We want to thank you for making this year's event a part of your racing season. Let's take a closer look at some of the activities you can expect at WFC9!

World Race Events has provided the Ford Racing community with the one annual race that is a "must do" for anyone serious about Ford Performance. For 2006, we will be offering our fans over 750 drag race participants, 1,500 car show entries, and over 50,000 fans jamming the state-of-the-art St. Louis facility. As has been stated many times before, the Mobil 1 World Ford Challenge has become the standard by which all other Ford shows are judged.

I want to assure you, however, that we have worked tirelessly to make sure your Mobil 1 World Ford Challenge will be a special and unique experience for each and every fan who attends. The most important part of making this happen is that beautiful, spacious, and professional setting that is Gateway International Raceway. This professional venue is necessary to hold the amazing sights and sounds that envelope the annual crowds of thousands of Ford fans that make up the Mobil 1 World Ford Challenge. As for performance, it is now common knowledge that this racing surface serves up record-setting performances in every class, year after year, at each World Ford Challenge.

On May 18- 21, 2006, you will watch as hundreds of the top Ford racers from around the world battle it out for the richest guaranteed cash purse in the history of Ford drag racing. This brings out the top Ford teams and rewards the winners with cold, hard cash. Besides that, it turns up the pressure, forcing the round-by-round racing action to be hot. This gives the World Ford Challenge fans the most competitive races they will only see once a year-at World Ford Challenge 9!

Pro Mod 5.0 is the top draw at WFC, and this year we'll pay $35,000 to the winner of this class with dozens of the fastest Mustangs in the world battling it out in the six-second zone at over 225 mph! Chuck Samuel, Doug Mangrum, Les Baer, Billy Glidden, Randy Eakins, Donnie Walsh Jr,. and Tony Gillig have won past Pro Mod 5.0 championships. Who will join them in 2006 as the undisputed king of WFC?

Continuing our tradition as innovators in the Ford industry, this year we will have three Outlaw classes, bringing out the top competitors in NMRA, FFW, and other sanctioning bodies throughout the world. Pro Outlaw this year will feature the madness of "run what you brung" and run it on a 10.5W tire! Street Outlaw will remain the 10-inch tire freak show and one of the wildest classes in all of heads-up drag racing! Manny Buginga set a new world record at WFC8 in this class by running a 7.37 e.t on a true 28x10.6-inch tire. And for all you Drag Radial fans, Outlaw Drag Radial is back and ready for action! Expect most of the biggest names in Outlaw drag racing to be attending. Dan Millen, John Urist, Timmy Lynch, Brad Brand, Mike Calvert, Sammy Vincent, Jim Blair, Kieth Szabo, Mike Trimandilis, Gary Rohe, and over 40 Pro Street Outlaw teams will be on hand racing for the grand prize in one of our new Outlaw classes!

We will also be offering you the most creative lineup of classes in Ford drag racing-classes like Wild Street, Real Street, Pro Lightning, Ford Diesel Challenge, Cobra Challenge, and Open Comp. In all, we will be offering our WFC9 participants 15 awesome classes to participate in. The WFC technical director has masterfully adjusted our rules so that with minimal modification, racers from all Ford sanctioning bodies can compete at WFC9. This means you will see match-ups of your favorite Ford teams that will only occur once this year, at WFC9!

As you look down the dragstrip, you will notice the massive Mustang & Fords/Mustang Monthly Auto Show Spectacular (with over 70 classes of competition) is positioned to the left. This allows both the WFC9 drag race and car show to go on simultaneously so no one misses a single round of action! Our Auto Show registrants will be able to show their car and see every single race in the comfort of their own numbered parking space. Also, one of the biggest draws of our event is the monstrous manufacturer's midway. This WFC9 midway will allow you to interact with over 200 manufacturers' representatives to make sure you find that go-fast part for your Ford. We have also expanded the WFC souvenir merchandise area, so please take the time to pick up your Official WFC9 "Silver Edition" T-shirt to remind you of this special event.

It has been an amazing eight years of Ford racing that has lead us up to this event. I want to thank each and every one of you for your part in making the WFC so special. As a racer, car show participant, sponsor, or fan, you have done your part in making Ford racing history. And, together, we will shape the future of this great sport with larger crowds, record-setting performances, and good times. If this is your first experience with the WFC, welcome. I think you will quickly realize why they call the World Ford Challenge the "Super Bowl" of all Ford events. Now, on with the show!

Sincerely,George GonzalezPresident, World Race Events
