March 1, 2003

Drag Radial was designed for street-driven, DOT-radial-equipped, small-block, '79-up Fox-chassis Fords. It allows a 325mm maximum measured tire width and stock-type suspension only. An all-run field will run on a pro-tree (0.400) NHRA Sportsman ladder. Three qualified passes will be allowed on Saturday, with eliminations taking place on Sunday, weather permitting.

One to Watch:The well-recognized talents of Chris Beningo, NMRA Crew Chief of the Year for 2001, will be put to the test in 2003 as he steps up to this class. After years of power-limited racing in Hot Street, Chris is excited to explore the possibilities of this tire-limited class.

Quick Fact: Racers are limited to a 275/50, a 275/60, or a 325/50 DOT-legal drag radial that measures no more than 10.5 inches wide by 28.0 inches tall. The vast majority of racers in this class choose the BFGoodrich Drag Radial.

Inaugural NMRA Ford NationalsJuly 25-27, 2003Route 66 RacewayJoliet (Chicago), IL

The site of the second World Ford Challenge will also be the site of the sixth race on the NMRA's '03 schedule. After a three-year hiatus, the beautiful (and enormous) Route 66 Raceway, located a short drive from Chicago, will finally see the top Fords in the world go at it. If you have never been to this NHRA national-event track, you must come out to the NMRA's event and experience it in person. The Chicago-area racers are partying hard now that they have another event in their backyard, and the rest of the NMRA racers and crowd can't wait to hit the fantastic surface at Route 66. This one will be huge!
