The 2015 NMRA All Ford World Finals at Beech Bend Park in Bowling Green, Kentucky kicked off on Saturday with a little more rain than we would have liked, but it proved to be short lived, which gave the awesome track prep team enough time dry up the track. It took all they had to chase the puddles away and just when we thought the weather would cooperate, the wet stuff rolled in and made quite a mess on the track. Fortunately, there was a bit of a gap in the storm and the track staff was able to go to town with the dryers to get it ready for some passes.

With the track finally dry, the action kicked off with the Detroit Locker Truck and Lightning class making their qualifying passes. Unfortunately, one of the racers managed to tag the wall after losing traction; luckily it didn’t look like anything bad enough to keep him from racing. Since trucks have beds, they tend to collect water a little more than cars which means the track crew had to work tirelessly with the mops to keep the start line nice and dry for the rest of the racers.

Once the trucks were through their qualifying round, the Open Comp class showed up and lit the strip on fire with some really cool wheels up passes. The side by side action was hot all the way towards the top end of the track, making it exciting for the loyal crowed that braved the earlier rains.

While we would have loved to watch the rest of the field go head to head, Mother Nature had other thought. With the temperatures dropping, the decision was made and the rest of the qualifying rounds were postponed until the following day.

This gave us a chance to take a walk around the pits where Chris “BoostedGT” Hamilton of Street Outlaws fame, was busy signing autographs and posing for pictures with the seemingly endless line of fans.

Sunday is definitely going to be one heck of a sight to see and the NMRA staff tells us it’s going to really be Runday, as in there will be plenty of cars launching off the start line at Beech Bend Park. You can expect the day to kickoff bright and early at 8:30am with the Index Qualifying and Round One Eliminations of Truck & Lightning and Open Comp. The Heads-Up Qualifying will follow after that at which point we’ll be headed right into the eliminations. The HP Tuners True Street class will be meeting at 11:00am and Grudge Competitors will get a N/T Time Trial around the same time with Grudge Eliminations taking place right after Round One of Heads-up eliminations.

Stay tuned for more high octane action from the 2015 NMRA All-Ford World Finals!
