When it comes to hot rods, classic cars, and old-school muscle, the Goodguys Rod & Custom Association has a hold on the automotive industry. With over 20 events held annually across the country, from cruise-ins to car shows, there's just no comparison to the array of vehicles you'll find at any of their given events. Of course, this means a large number of Mustangs and even more custom Fords to ogle!
Over the weekend of September 8th, the Goodguys Rod & Custom Association held their 20th annual Colorado Nationals at Loveland's The Ranch complex on September 8-10, 2017, kicking off the fall show season with a bang. Although it's a smaller show by Goodguys standards, with around 1,200 pre-1973 vehicles, the event still brings out some killer Mustangs and other impressive Fords, many of which went one step further this year and competed in the AutoCross competition.
Friday was a bit slow compared to previous years as far as car count went, due in part to weather, but that didn't stop countless locals and long-distance travelers alike from taking advantage of the less crowded event grounds and cruising for hours taking in all the sites. Friday night, the annual Kick-Off Party took place at local hot rod hangout Pinkee's Rod Shop. Saturday morning, show car owners lined up early to stake out their perfect spot on the grounds while more and more enthusiasts got up the guts to try their hand at the AutoCross competition. A highlight of the event, there's just nothing quite like watching performance-built Mustangs and kit Cobras rip around a course of cones trying for best times of the weekend. Award winners were chosen and instructions for Sunday's Winners circle were given before everyone headed out for the evening.
On Sunday, the Goodguys Rod & Custom Association welcomes all American-made and powered vehicles to the show, regardless of their model year. This brought a handful of modern Mustangs and Ford trucks to the grounds, many of which also went straight for some cone-carving action. When all was said and done, over four dozen specialty awards were given at the Awards Ceremony before vehicles and owners hit the road to their local or (for many) out-of-state destinations.
The Goodguys Colorado Nationals is always a great time and brings about some of the Front Range's most beautiful vehicles. Be sure to check out the massive photo gallery we've prepared for you below to see for yourself just what the 20th Goodguys Colorado Nationals had to offer!
