The NMRA season opener in Bradenton, Florida is always a well-attended and anticipated event. Many racers have been in hibernation all winter and are itching to make a pass, while others have new combinations or all-out brand new cars that need sorting. The pits are packed with everything from the Open Comp regulars to the huge True Street class and everything else Ford powered like trucks, Mustangs, Mavericks, and more.

In order to get down the track it is important to heat the rear tires (slicks or drag radials) with a burnout before staging. Some prefer a short and quick burnout and others just love doing a Pro Stock style burnout past the starting line and Christmas tree. No matter how big or how small the burnout, the crowds love them almost as much as when the cars go wheels up and drag the rear bumper (we’ll have shots of those coming soon in another gallery as well!). Enjoy this huge photo gallery of Mustang and Ford powered vehicles getting their tires hot and sticky on their way to hopefully some of their best runs ever.
