Memphis is the home of the Blues and the Blue Oval was in full force during the 2016 Ford vs. Mopar Series at Memphis International Dragway this past weekend. The event series travels from Cordova, Illinois to Memphis, then on to West Palm Beach, Florida and finally back-to-back weekends at Maryland International Raceway.

After landing we made our way downtown to get our fill of real-deal Memphis barbeque at the Rendezvous, then, with a full belly we slipped over to Memphis International Raceway for a night of test and tune, followed by a full day of dragstrip and show action.

Since the Ford vs. Mopar events are promoted and run by each track individually, they feature slightly differed classes and specialty events. So be sure to check the track website for more information. Later this week, we’ll be heading to www.racepbir.com followed by www.mirdrag.com the following weeks.

In addition to three bracket classes, the Memphis race was highlighted by Ford vs. Mopar Nostalgia Super Stocker and a Nostalgia Pro Stock show. There was also a short autocross, and for only $5, anyone could sly through the cones to test out their handling.

We focused on the show and strip, where smoky burnouts, giant wheelstands, plus glistening paint and chrome kept us entertained. On track was everything from new V6 Mustangs to the hardcore classic 427 Thunderbolt and Fairlanes of the 1960s. In fact, after a long day, the Nostalgia Super Stock final came down to the only two Fords in the show.

To get you excited, we’ve compiled a photo gallery of all the hot Fords in attendance. So kick back, flip through the pics and stay tuned for the show and race results, which we’ll post later this week.
