On the morning of day six, the final day of Rally North America's Drive Alaska 2016, we woke up in Denali Park greeted by sunshine. It was chilly for us Southern girls, but the sun and scenery made up for the cold. It was that bittersweet day: you're happy that you conquered the adventure but sad that it's all about to be over. One day I will invent a reset button just for moments like this.

Amie Williams and I started out trek back to Anchorage in my 1965 Ford Mustang with the group. After all the adventures with day three and four, it was nice to just follow someone without having to think about much. But then it happened—the car started smoking really bad. Just kidding! It doesn't all have to be dramatic, right?

We did manage to find some cool places to stop along the way including an old Igloo hotel that we managed tot crawl into through a very sketchy looking hole. Before the final dinner with the group ,we had one last thing to do in Anchorage. We headed to a shopping mall to meet up with Aaron Reeves and Ryan Cucullu from the Alaska Mustang Club. Both of them have '66 Mustang coupes: Aaron brought his red car with a 399ci stroker that runs high 11s in the quarter-mile, and Ryan's purple car was originally a six-cylinder car but now has a Ford Racing 347.

After a great group dinner we all went back to the hotel. I should mention that the day we arrived in Anchorage, I found some wood that someone was throwing away. So we picked it up and had been carrying it around all week, never finding the right spot to have ourselves a campfire. Luckily for us, the Microtel in Anchorage was nice enough to let us light it up in the back parking lot. We cracked a few beers and enjoyed the perfect end to our amazing journey with Drive Alaska 2016!

Now just 6,000 miles to go until home—check back on Monday for our adventure home. We met Yogi and Booboo!
