GT500 owners say I do Las Vegas Style
Paulino and Maila Gomez came from two different parts of the world but little did they know that they shared so much together the day they met in 2005. In small town Mesquite, Nevada, 60 minutes north of Las Vegas a young Paulino took notice to beautiful gal named Maila on her Kawasaki Ninja Sport Bike. Both gearheads ended up at Carquest Auto Parts buying some parts they needed for vehicles they were working on.
It was love at first sight and from that day on, they were inseparable! They opened an automotive repair shop together with a tool box, floor jack, and a mere five hundred dollars to their name. Working countless hours at the shop as well as some part time jobs, they had built the shop into what it is today. Currently the shop is a 6 bay full service facility and they even own a towing company with 5 trucks to get you there.
Their passion with Ford runs deep into their blood and each of them currently own a pair of 2007 GT500s. But wait, they own just a few more Fords, including, a 2003 Mustang Cobra convertible, 1965 Mustang Coupe, 1993 Mustang LX, a 2000 F-150 Lightning truck and a 1993 Thunderbird 3.8 SC. On March 11, 2016 the two were wed in typical Las Vegas fashion.
They said their vows in the back seat of their ‘03 Cobra convertible at the world famous Little White Wedding Chapel drive-through on the Las Vegas Strip. Who was with them? A parade of Shelby GT500s were also on hand to celebrate! After the vows were spoken, the Ford parade cruised to The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, where they took a side by side stroll down the 1,320.
The two have been running in the Sportsman and Pro classes at The Strip’s local bracket program. Best lap so far for Paulino has been a 10.89 at 129 mph while Mailas’ has been 12.20 at 113 mph. Currently, Paulino and Maila are building another mustang, but they won’t tell us what it is until the 2017 race season!
