2016 Fabulous Fords Forever Event Coverage: Proof the New Edge & SN95 Mustangs Are Still Hot
New Edge & SN95 Mustangs
Some have said that the New Edge Mustang is the quintessential Pony car of the modern era thanks to a capable chassis, killer bodylines, strong aftermarket support, and many special-edition cars like the Cobras, Mach 1s, and Bullitts that still command top dollar in the marketplace. There is also the venerable SN95, which we at MM&FF think is the bargain of the century, especially the Cobras, since the SN95 offers more chassis rigidity and a nicer interior than the Fox-body along with better aerodynamics and killer good looks to boot. We know the SN95 is habitually underrepresented, but that doesn’t mean it didn’t carry the Mustang torch with pride during its tenure.
Now over a decade after the last New Edge hit showrooms, Mustang fans still recognize the raspy snap of a 4.6 Modular motor with open exhaust. The stance of a lowered New Edge still turns heads and drops jaws.
Although technology soldiers on at an alarming rate with the advent of the GT500, Coyote-powered cars, and EcoBoost engines, the New Edge and SN95 continue to hold their own at the track, at car shows, and in Mustang fan’s hearts.
Here is a handful of nice New Edge and SN95s from the 2016 Fabulous Fords Forever Show at the Knott’s Berry Farm in Buena Park, California. Nearly 2000 Fords, Lincolns, and Mercurys descended upon the popular theme park in sunny SoCal to kick tires, show off their latest mods, and bleed blue.
