Day 2 of Hot Rod Drag Weekend 2015 started off with the remnants of some scattered overnight showers but luckily the forecast for the day was blue skies and cool air that would no doubt make for a great day of racing. In the pits it was a mad dash to get the cars prepped for race trim and cleared through tech. Needless to say there was more than a few aluminum jacks slung under the rear of cars with slicks and stickies waiting to get slapped on.

Not surprisingly, many of the competitors opted to be conservative with their race strategy and make one run, load up and hit the road for the last leg of Drag Weekend all the way out to Fontana. 347 miles is no joke when it comes to high powered race cars that can light up the scoreboard at the strip with sub 10 second runs.

The local news channels heard about all the action at the strip and decided to come out and check it out for themselves. We didn’t expect them to make a pass in their big behoth news van but that’s exactly what they did. In case you’re wondering, it crossed the finish line in 33 seconds at a whopping 35 mph.

Check out all the action from Day 2 of the Hot Rod Magazine Drag Weekend!
