The NMRA Super Nationals at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio is ripping with dozens of the hottest Fords blasting down the famous quarter-mile. Every drag racing run begins with a burnout, so that’s where we pointed our cameras to lock in on all the dramatic action. Every NMRA event provides a plethora of on track battles, plus there’s fun stuff going on in the pits, on the manufacturer’s midway and in the show and swap meet areas.

Summit Motorsports Park is one of our favorite stops on the NMRA tour. The Bader family has upheld the highest standard with its premier facility, including a great racing surface, manicured landscape, and of course, the world-famous $1-per-pound ice cream. Those are just some of the reasons the NMRA event brings out the best heads-up Mustang racers, bracket racers and sweet show machines.

The Norwalk, Ohio hot spot is also the home of the NMRA All-Female Shootout, created by Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords magazine. And you can expect we’ll be posting updates on the ladies in competition and all the True Street competitors, as they gun for low elapsed times with their street-legal muscle Mustangs and fast Fords.

The event kicked off with qualifying and time trials on Friday, and we found some great cars to focus on. Summit Motorsport Park provides a variety of locations for shooting the burnout box, starting line and finish line. No grass is growing under our feet as we hustle around to capture the best angles on the hottest cars.

In addition to the latest Mustangs, we spotted amazing Fairlanes, Galaxies, and some old Mercs, which pounded the pavement. We’ll save the wheels-up action for our next blog, this one is all about the burnouts.

A modest amount of tire-frying is important for making the perfect pass down the 1,320, plus it’s great fun. So kick back and enjoy our gallery of Mustangs and Mercs, smokin’ ’em up!
