Mustangs of the 2015 Hot Rod Power Tour Finale: Hoover, AL—Gulfport, MS—Baton Rouge, LA
We’re covering two days in one here, due to technical and timing complications, and it just so happens to be the last two days of the Hot Rod Power Tour. Day 6 was on June 11th when the Tour went from Hoover, Alabama to Gulfport, Mississippi, and the final day was June 12th, from Gulfport to the Tour end at Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Considering we were driving in the deep South in the summertime, the humidity was pretty intense, especially on Day 6 from Hoover to Gulfport, but it was surprising and interesting to see so many vintage Mustangs (and other cars) with the windows up, a sure sign that they had working air conditioning—that’s a testament to companies like Classic Auto Air and Vintage Air, and the effectiveness of their systems.
We met a lot of people in just the last two days, in addition to those we met in the first few days of the Tour, and you’ll see them all in the October 2015 issue of Mustang Monthly when we present an overall story on the Mustangs of Power Tour. In the meantime, check out these photos that we shot at the Tour stops those two days.
Special thanks go first to Ford Motor Company for the loan of a 2015 Mustang GT convertible to use as our camera car, which got more than a few thumbs-ups from participants and spectators alike. Also thanks to our photo assistant Kristina GNGal Richards, who rode with us on the last two days of the Tour and is the talent behind the lens of many of the photos you see here. She usually drives a Buick Grand National, but after teaching her to drive a stick in the new Mustang, she’s looking at a “real” car.
Again, check out the October 2015 issue of Mustang Monthly for more scoop on this year’s Power Tour. If you’ve never been and you call your self a car guy/girl, put it on your bucket list.
We'll be doing daily updates throughout the week during the Hot Rod Power Tour, so be sure to check back for the latest!
