Chip Foose Builds an 810 Horsepower 2015 Mustang to Give Away
MMD by Foose 2015 Mustang to be Personally Given Away by Chip Foose at AmericanMuscle’s 2015 Mustang Show this Summer
If you’ve never heard of Chip Foose, you really need to crawl out of your cave and start paying attention. Foose is the automotive designer and hot rod builder that is now a household name, staring in the Overhaulin’ TV show and winning every significant car show award, including the Ridler. So he was a natural choice when Modern Muscle Design (MMD) wanted to partner with someone to build the company’s latest giveaway car, this 2015 Mustang. We were there for the debut at Foose’s Huntington Beach, California shop to see what all the fuss is about, and we’re here to tell ya’, the winner is going to be one lucky SOB.
As with most Foose projects, it all started with a sketch he did of a ’15 Mustang, incorporating his signature design aesthetic into every part of the car, designing and helping create new MMD by Foose parts that will be available as stand-alone parts you can buy later in 2015. MMD took Fooses designs and 3D-printed the prototype parts to, as they say, “become seamless additions to the Mustang’s factory design.” These prototype parts are being further refined to ensure world-class OE-level fitments and will be sold exclusively through www.AmericanMuscle.com, include a chin spoiler, hood scoop, tapered rocker panels, quarter window “louvers,” side scoops, and a rear spoiler.
The car would be just a showpiece without some thunder under the hood, so they took care of that with a Whipple 2.9-liter twin-scroll supercharger, a tuneup, and Magnaflow exhaust that makes right around 800hp at the crank, and roughly 650 at the wheels (depending on fuel quality where you live). Those wheels are 20-inchers from Foose Designs with Pirelli tires, and the perfect stance comes courtesy of a Vogtland Sport Suspension.
Foose told us, “I am so excited about the parts that MMD and I have been working on for the 2015 Mustang. They really enhance the factory styling while keeping that classic Mustang look. We started by looking at the factory design language of the car itself and I really wanted to translate that into all of the parts that I designed. I didn't want them to look like an afterthought or obviously an aftermarket part, but something you could get right from the factory.
AmericanMuscle’s Justin Dugan added, “We are very excited to work together with MMD and legendary designer Chip Foose to debut the MMD by Foose Mustang to the world. We are thrilled to be able to offer fans a chance to win such a unique Mustang at our car show this summer.” That’s right, starting today and through August 3, 2015, fans can enter online up to once a week to win the MMD by Foose Mustang. AmericanMuscle will fly the winner to its 2015 Mustang Show in Mohnton, PA and Foose will be on-hand to deliver the keys to the lucky winner on August 15. The show benefits the Make-a-Wish® Foundation and is expected to draw more than 10,000 spectators and more than 2,500 Mustangs to Maple Grove Raceway. You must be 18 or older to enter and a resident of the United States. For more information about the sweepstakes, please visit: http://www.americanmuscle.com/foose.
