RK Motors Unveiling Pro Touring Car at Charlotte
Three Rare Mustangs To Be Displayed
The 50th-Anniversary Mustang Celebration is nearly upon us and RK Motors just announced some exciting plans during the Charlotte festivities on April 17 – 20, 2014. Based out of Charlotte, RK Motors will bring three rare Ford Mustangs for thousands of enthusiasts to ogle over. That’s not all though, RK is unveiling a specially built Pro Touring car that will compete in this year’s Hot Rod Power Tour this coming June.
“We are thrilled to unveil this truly awesome car that we call RK 527 at the Mustang 50th event in Charlotte. The RK is for Robert Kauffman, the car’s owner and the 527 is for the ferocious John Kaase 527 CI motor living under the hood. Being a 1967 Mustang in correct sheet metal, this car will be the first ever to be fitted with a Kaase Boss 9 engine of this size and power. The 2014 Power Tour will provide us with a great opportunity to showcase the quality of the build and it’s sure to be a big hit on the tour at every stop”.

We here at Modified Mustangs & Fords will be on site at the 50th-Anniversary Mustang celebration in Charlotte covering the official unveiling of RK Motor’s new car and we can’t wait for the covers to come off. So, stay tuned for a barrage of photos on the Mustang-360 website and our MM&F Facebook page as the event unfolds.
Also, during the four-day event, RK Motors will sponsor the “Award of Excellence” which honors previous Mustang Club of America winners at Charlotte Motor Speedway. RK Motors will host two exhibits on the track; and also “take part in extensive marketing, highlighted by ads on a high-definition display board, banners around the track and in the official Mustang registry.”
The first of RK Motors three cars to grace the Mustang celebration is this Pro Touring Ford Mustang with a fuel-injected V-8 mated to a Tremec transmission. This is a classic Ford Mustang body with Fox-body performance with a 5.0L from a 1990 GT stuffed inside the engine bay. Rocking a Porsche Guards Red paint job, it still has the old-school white Le Mans stripes and traditional G.T. 350 rocker decal.
Another car joining in on the festivities is this completely restored 1970 Boss 302 Ford Mustang slathered in Grabber Blue. While the body is pristine, the 302 engine has been rebuilt to factory specifications with free-flowing Cleveland heads, race-prepped crank, solid lifter cam, hefty connecting rods, forged pistons and an aluminum intake among other things.
Last but not least, another special car is joining the RK Motors herd in the form of a 2007 Saleen-supercharged “Eleanor Edition” Mustang capable of an impressive 482 horsepower. Other modifications include a full Lakewood suspension, leather-lined interior, Diablo Sport tune and Cervini exterior complete with side exhaust. Painted Satin Silver, this Ford Mustang only boasts about 13,000 on the odometer.
At the celebration, RK Motors will have both indoor and outdoor booths which will include a 30-second Eleanor tribute video, information about services, sign up for "My Classic Garage" where enthusiasts can create garages on the web. Also, sign up to win a 1967 Mustang Project Fastback.
RKM's headquarters is a 40,000-plus square-foot showroom based in Charlotte and packed to the rim with over 250 rare collector-worthy cars. The facility will stay open until 6 p.m. through Saturday for visitors and residents to receive private tours. Check out their website here.
