The Ford Mustang turning fifty is a huge deal and celebrations are still happening around the nation. There's no better way to honor our favorite pony car than with car shows and Mustang meets scattered across the country.

If near the L.A. area, stop by the Petersen Museum next weekend May 3 – 4 for the festivities. The all-new 2015 Ford Mustang will be on display if you haven't seen it yet in person, and feel free to take the hourly guided tour of Petersen’s new exhibit, Mustangs Forever: 50 Years of a Legend.

Formula Drift champ, Vaughn Gittin Jr. will be on site Saturday, May 3rd for live interviews, a Q&A session, and autograph signings. He will be interviewing with Inside the Motoman Studio at 10 a.m. Saturday and will be on the show again Sunday with Beau Brockman, the President of Galpin Ford at 11 a.m.

Make sure to check out the Mustang Lounge open both Saturday and Sunday. A $25 admission gives you access to live music, burger buffet and full cash bar.

On Sunday, the Mustang Madness car show will take place from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. and participants are encouraged to meet at Galpin Ford at 7 a.m. for a rally drive over to the Petersen. Registration fee includes two tickets to the museum and a goody bag on a first come first serve basis. Cash prizes will be handed out and Henry Ford III himself will give out $500 and the Ford Heritage Award for the People’s Choice Best in Show at 2 p.m.

Some impressive cars that will be at the show include Bob Fria and the first Ford Mustang, Hollywood Hot Rods’ Troy Ladd with his custom Mustang, Pure Vision’s Martine Mustang and “Eleanor” hero cars from both the original (1974) and remake (2000) Gone in 60 Seconds films.

With that said, bring the fam to this family-friendly event. The kids will love the 1,000-square-foot huge bounce house, CXC racing simulators and scavenger hunt (Sunday)! Also, let’s not forget live music, food court and drinks.
