Saleen Automotive is celebrating a huge benchmark this year, its 30th-anniversary. To help commemorate the event, Saleen will produce three variations of its extremely-limited SA-30 model.

The sixth edition in the SA series, these Saleen Anniversary vehicles are a hit among collectors and enthusiasts alike due to exclusivity and super low production numbers.

“Through our automotive passion we celebrate every day that we are able to continue to design, develop, and produce the cars that we manufacture”, said Steve Saleen. “Once every five years, I celebrate the achievements with the automotive community through a commemorative vehicle.”

Only thirty vehicles will be produced for this Saleen series, which means just ten of each model – Saleen 302 Mustang, 570 Challenger, and 620 Camaro. All three vehicles may be a completely different American vehicle, but all share that Saleen Racing Heritage.

These vehicles are painted “Tire Smoke” Pearl white with Speedlab yellow and black components that are instantly recognizable as a Saleen vehicle. Color-matched pearl white Saleen wheels will help tie the exterior together.

Now, let’s talk power. The Saleen supercharged package sits atop each of the SA-30 powerplants. Horsepower will vary for each SA-30 model, but the Mustang will top the rest with an impressive 625hp.

When it comes to handling, a Saleen suspension package carries over from current Saleen production vehicles. Big yellow powdercoated Saleen brake kits come standard for all of the SA-30 vehicles.

The interiors of each anniversary edition have been completely redesigned. Features include a serialized dash plaque, interior badging and SA-30 carpeting. The seats are black leather with white perforated Alcantara inserts, adding 30th-anniversary livery to the interior as well as the exterior.

If interested, buyers can opt for a complete interior reconfiguration to mimic a 2-seater Fastback setup on each of the SA-30 Saleen models. This involves completely removing the rear seat and rear deck with fabrication to give off that full racecar feel. Custom formed panels will separate the cabin from the trunk area. To improve handling, a race style cross-brace ties to the rear shock towers. After fabrication, Saleen creates custom leather to give the car a final fit and finish to this “rear seat delete” option.

“When we began exploring some new Saleen styling that we wanted to debut with the SA-30 vehicles, we knew that we wanted something that spoke of our ‘Born of Racing’ heritage and a rear seat delete came as a natural choice for the SA-30”, said Sean Smith, Design Director. “Through the fastback design we were able to add a lot of refinement to the interior while still retaining the racecar environment.”

Another sweet option for the limited is the Saleen panoramic roof. This isn’t your ordinary roof, but made of Saleen Frost-Touch Glass. This feature will debut on the SA-30 Mustang 302 and changes from translucent to opaque with just the touch of a button. This technology was also added to the rear window glass, as well as the roof, giving the driver the option to diffuse light in both areas independently.

For this technology, Saleen worked closely with Southern California based Glass Apps, LLC in a strategic partnership.

“With past models, the panoramic glass roof was a fantastic compliment to any Saleen vehicle, but our #1 request was to develop a way to shade the glass without having to apply standard tint or add interior hardware,” said Sven Etzelsberger, VP of Engineering. “We began working with this technology some time ago and it has come to the point where we are able to completely frost the rear window to the panoramic glass roof almost instantaneous.”

How does it work? The Saleen Frost-Touch Glass uses electric current to energize and align otherwise randomly-placed particles. When the rear window and panoramic glass roof are in frost mode, the level of solar transmission is greatly reduced by 40 percent and the UV protection is increased by 98 percent.

With just ten SA-30 Mustangs produced, MRSP is set at $95,000 before options. Orders can be made for the SA-30 edition as well as other Saleen vehicles at Saleen dealers nationwide, or by contacting Saleen directly, which will conclude at your nearest Saleen Authorized Dealership.
