Those who attend the biggest automotive trade show each year, the Specialty Equipment Market Association – or SEMA – held in Las Vegas, probably know of the Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational (OUSCI) that takes place right after the show and is held right down the road in Pahrump, Nevada.

Drivers from all over and some straight off of the SEMA showroom floor, show off their skills in modern and classic muscle cars. When it comes to Ford vehicles, there were many Mustangs from classic to modern as well as a few other non-Mustang Fords competing at this year’s OUSCI such as a ’33 Ford Coupe, a ’13 Focus ST, and a ’72 Ford Maverick.

On Friday, November 8th, drivers met outside of the Las Vegas Convention Center around 3 p.m. in the silver lot near the Optima Battery rig to get ready for departure. At 4 p.m., everybody departed with the ending destination at the Carroll Shelby Museum.

Saturday, Nov. 9th, the day of the OUSCI, everyone started out bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, arriving at the Spring Mountain Motor Resort and Country Club with media check-in at the front gate and a drivers’ meeting both at 7:00 a.m. From 7:30 a.m. to 8 a.m. was open track for the finalists.

The pace lap started at 8:10 a.m. with the Ridetech Street Autocross Challenge and BFGoodrich Hot Lap Challenge. With a small break for a complimentary lunch, the festivities started up again from 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. with the BFGoodrich Hot Lap Challenge, Wilwood Disc Brakes Speed Stop Challenge, and Lingenfelter Performance Design Challenge. At 3 p.m., the OPTIMA Invitational drivers/vehicles group photo was taken and then from 3:45 p.m. – 4:15 p.m., the awards were given out to participants. Gates closed at 5:30 p.m. Here were the Ford participants, the cars they drove starting with the ranked position they ended the day with.
